Dr. Steven Cox and Crystal Cox

Dr. Steven Cox was born and raised in Marshall, Texas. His childhood pastime was hunting, fishing, and playing baseball. Dr. Cox earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Ecology and Management from Texas A&M University in 2006. Since 2005, Dr. Cox has worked in the field of Veterinary Medicine as a technician of both small and large animals as well as serving in other capacities such as whitetail deer management. In 2014, Dr. Cox graduated cum laude with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Texas A&M University. He worked passionately for over three years before acquiring Floerke Veterinary Clinic in Taft, Texas, now known as Cross Point Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Cox particularly enjoys sharing his passion with others by educating them about their pets and livestock. He welcomes questions and conversation any time! He also encourages youth to visit the vet clinic and become involved in their pet’s care. Occasionally, he can be found serving the community by giving presentations on veterinary medicine at schools and other local events.

Dr. and Mrs. Cox met while attending school at Texas A&M. They married in 2007 and now have two children, Caden and Carlee. Caden is 8 years old and enjoys rodeos, horse riding, swimming, hunting, and fishing. Carlee is 4 years old and loves tumbling, cheerleading, baby dolls, and school. Both are a lover of animals and relish at a chance to be up at the clinic!

Crystal Cox serves as our Human Resources Manager. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist. Crystal graduated from Texas A&M University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, minoring in Business Administration. She also earned her Master of Education degree in Counseling from Sam Houston State University. Crystal counsels children, adolescents, and adults part time in the Beeville area. She plans to become certified in Animal Assisted Therapy and Trauma-Focused Equine Assisted Therapy in the near future.

Dr. and Mrs. Cox enjoy playing 42 dominoes, listening to live country music, spending time with family and friends, Aggie sports, and serving in their community. The Cox Family have a love for the Lord and a strong desire to serve and love people. Crystal’s guiding philosophy is “Count your Blessings, and in ALL things find Joy”. Dr. Cox’s favorite saying is by Texas Country artist, Aaron Watson, “If you ain’t makin your Mama and Jesus happy, you shouldn’t be doin it.” The Cox’s are excited about the opportunity to serve in the Taft/Portland area and look forward to the growth and changes to come!

Dr. Donald Barnett

Dr. Barnett was born and raised in Adkins, Texas. He started working with animals at a young age and attributes his years of showing cattle as the reason for developing an interest in becoming a Veterinarian. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science in 2008, and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2012, both from Texas A&M University.

Dr. Barnett joined the Cross Point Veterinary Team in May of 2017. He has been an incredible asset to our team with his efficiency and attitude. Dr. Barnett may not like to smile for pictures, but don’t let that fool you…his heart and passion for Veterinary medicine is evident the moment you interact with him.

Dr. Barnett is married to Lauren and they have a fun-loving 2-year-old boy, Hudson. Lauren is a leader in their church’s MOMs group and realtor with MGM Realty in Beeville. Dr. Barnett enjoys hunting, fishing, Aggie Football and Basketball. He also enjoys watching the Spurs and Cowboys. Dr. Barnett believes that family comes first and was attracted to Cross Point Veterinary Clinic because of this. Dr. Barnett enjoys working for a family-oriented business that values their employees and is excited to be an integral part of CPVC’s future.

Shannon Vance

Shannon serves as our superb Lead Customer Service Representative. She was born in Houston but grew up in Gregory/Portland. Prior to joining the CPVC team in 2016, Shannon spent 13 years as a dental assistant and 20 years as an office manager. She is a true asset to our Leadership Team and Veterinary Practice, as she brings a bubbly personality, grit, and a willingness to help others in all circumstances.

Shannon and her husband Shawn have been married for 25 years. They have two children; Preston and Haden. Preston is a professional chef in Corpus Christi and Haden is a Junior in High School, participating in Band and athletics, and aspiring to have a career in Engineering. The Vance Family enjoys fishing, camping, hunting, birding photography, art, and all things outdoors!

Shannon’s guiding philosophy is to “always do your best!” She believes if you are going to do something, do it RIGHT! Shannon is happy to be a part of the CPVC Family, and excited to grow both personally and professionally through her career with Cross Point Veterinary Clinic.

Lyndsey Smith

Lyndsey is our outstanding Lead Veterinary Technician and truly has a heart for serving others. She grew up in Sinton but graduated from Gregory-Portland High School. Lyndsey started coursework at SFA and has completed schooling for level 1 CVA. Cross Point Veterinary Clinic is blessed by her dedication and work ethic as well as her ability to lead our technicians in a positive and caring manner.

Lyndsey has worked in the Veterinary field since she was 16 years old. She started as a kennel technician and quickly promoted to a Veterinary Technician. Lyndsey joined the CPVC family in March of 2017. She has a beautiful daughter, Charlotte, who is 9 years old and loves animals.

Lyndsey and Charlotte stay heavily involved with Sinton FFA, county stock show, and Booster Clubs. They are active in their church and enjoy hunting, fishing, raising animals for the local livestock show, and going to the lake with friends and family. Lyndsey is happy to be a part of a tight-knit and very family oriented environment where her co-workers feel like family and friends.

Crystal Hippler

Crystal is one of our treasured Customer Service Representatives. She was born and raised in Norfolk, Virgina. After graduating High School in 2008, and prior to joining the CPVC Family in 2012, Crystal worked at a Pet Supplies store in Kerrville, Texas. Crystal has also trained and served as a Veterinary Technician and looks forward to her professional expansion of knowledge in the Veterinary field.

Crystal is married to Aaron and they have a precious 2 year old daughter, Adalynn. The Hippler Family attends Faith Baptist Church in Aransas Pass. They enjoy riding horses, caring for their livestock, and anything else they get to do as a family!

Crystal is a true gem to Cross Point Veterinary Clinic as she always seems to have a smile on her face and a passion for client and patient advocacy. Crystal enjoys the family-oriented feel of Cross Point Veterinary Clinic and is cherished by all who interact with her.

Amanda Lovorn

Amanda is from Spring, Texas and is a strength to our CPVC team with her calm demeanor and large animal experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Sam Houston State University with a focus in Ag Business and Equine Science. She is a certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist and Certified in Equine Reproduction Ultrasound.

Amanda has been riding horses since she was in 3rd grade. She started her career as a riding lesson instructor, farm manager, and equine trainer. Upon moving to South Texas in 2011, Amanda quickly found herself eager to join the field of Veterinary Medicine. She started as a Veterinary Technician with Cross Point Veterinary Clinic in 2011 and has enjoyed her professional growth and furthering her animal knowledge to small animals as well.

Amanda has a strong interest in Equine Reproduction and hopes to start her own Equine Repro business in the near future. She enjoys hunting, fishing, and Aggie and SHSU football. On the weekends you can usually find Amanda barrel racing, show jumping, or spending time with her horses.

Amanda has 8 horses; Dakota, Seven, Fancy, Rocky, Diamond, Goose, Dolly, and Baby Maverick and 5 fur baby dogs; Dixie, Alley, Munchkin, Lexi, and Bruiser. Her favorite scripture is Proverbs 31:25, “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”

Kiersten Martinez

Kiersten serves as one of our excellent Veterinary Technicians. She was born in La Junta, Colorado but has called Ingleside her home since she was 6 years old. Kiersten graduated from Ingleside High School and is currently pursuing further education with San Juan College. Prior to joining the CPVC family in 2015, Kiersten worked in retail and as a Veterinary Receptionist. She is a valuable link between our technicians and receptionists.

Kiersten and her husband, Michael, have 2 beautiful girls; Makayla (age 6) and Paisley (8 months). They are active members of the Exchange Worship Center. The Martinez family enjoys fishing, hanging out at the beach, going to Funtrackers, and all types of outdoor sports.

Kiersten feels blessed to work with a group of people who have become family. She looks forward to seeing and being involved with the clinic growth and serving her community.

Renee Cullen

Renee’ serves as our wonderful Project Coordinator and CSR. She was born in Houston but has resided in Buda, Texas for the past 35 years. Renee’ and her husband are owners of a construction company in the Austin area where she manages the secretary side of the business. Renee’ is a valuable asset to Cross Point Veterinary Clinic with her positive attitude and clerical skills.

Renee’ and her husband, Frank, have 2 grown children who are both married and 4 awesome grandchildren, 2 boys and 2 girls. They have one fur-baby dog, Zack, whom they adore. They attend Christian Life Church in Austin, belong to the Usher Team there, and enjoy playing 42 dominoes with friends and family. Renee’ also enjoys playing Canasta with a group of friends, arts and crafts projects, quilting, and HGTV. Above all, family and especially grandchildren, are at the top of the list!

Renee’ feels blessed to work for Cross Point Veterinary Clinic on several levels; the enjoyment to be part of the team, as well as the ability to use her clerical skills to help grow and prosper the Clinic. Seeing the efforts of the staff making a difference to the community gives her great satisfaction, not to mention seeing all the different pets that come into the Clinic.

Jacki Whitmire

Jacki joined the Cross Point family in May of 2018 as a valued Customer Service Representative. Jacki is from Corpus Christi, TX and grew up in the Anaville area. She graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School and attended Del Mar College. With her previous work experience in a small animal veterinary clinic, as well as her extensive background in an office/clerical environment, Jacki contributes immensely to the value of our team.

Jacki is a proud mom of two young gentlemen, Joshua Michael (age 21) and Christopher Chase (age 17). She has a strong desire to serve others through disaster relief efforts, volunteering for church events, Special Olympics, and American Red Cross. While the act of serving others in her community brings her much joy, Jacki finds no greater joy than her family – whether they are spending time together, watching sports together, or engaging in other fun activities with one another.

Jacki was drawn to the family atmosphere and kindness she felt at CPVC, even as an applicant. She looks forward to growing with her new work family and helping to contribute to the excellence of the practice and service to the clients, patients, and fellow team members. Jacki’s favorite quote is by Henry Ford, “obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal!”

Katelyn Stephens

Katelyn serves as one of our fabulous Veterinary Technicians. She grew up in Central Texas until she was 14 years old, then moved to Texarkana and lived there for 10 years. She has recently made her way down to South Texas and boy are we thankful! Katelyn has previous work experience in an Equine Veterinary Clinic, as well as a Mixed Animal Veterinary Clinic.

Katelyn has a passion for horses and competing on her horses. She spent 5 years showing cutting horses before she began competing in high school rodeo in 2009. Katelyn finished in the top 10 in the state of Arkansas in both barrels and poles for four consecutive years. She still enjoys riding as often as she can and barrel racing on the weekends.

Katelyn has one precious 6-year-old son, Bradley. She enjoys taking fun trips with Bradley and her fur babies. For years her favorite verse has been Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Katelyn stated that this verse assures her that no matter what she faces, God is always by her side. Katelyn joined our team in August of 2018. She looks forward to working with and learning from the wonderful techs and leadership at CPVC.

Candice Killebrew

Candice serves as one of our valued Veterinary Technicians. She was born and raised in Terry, Mississippi and currently resides in Corpus Christi, TX. Candice graduated from Mississippi State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Information Science, with a leadership concentration.

Candice joined the CPVC family in 2018 with over 8 years of experience working in the veterinary field as both a kennel technician and veterinary technician. In addition to Candice’s veterinary experience, Candice has also served on the National Junior Santa Gertrudis Board of Directors for 4 years. She has had a love for animals her whole life. She has participated in her local 4-H club and is currently a member of the Santa Gertrudis Association.

Candice and her fiancé, Allen, enjoy watching football, fishing, and hunting. Candice also enjoys working on DIY projects. They have one dog, Harlee, and 4 cows, and counting! Her favorite quote is, “You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today” by Abraham Lincoln. Candice stated that she loves that everyone at Cross Point works as a team and treats each other like family. Cross Point feels equally as blessed to have someone with a positive attitude and great sense of humor to keep the workday fun!

Katrina Green

Katrina serves on our Leadership Team as our wonderful Client Ambassador. Her passion and expertise that comes from her 21 years as a manager in the customer service industry, makes her a valuable asset to the Cross Point Veterinary Clinic (CPVC) team, ensuring that each client’s total experience is of superior quality. She serves our clients as well as our team, by providing training and resources that will allow our team members to enhance the overall CPVC client experience.

Katrina was born in Muncie, Indiana and grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She attended California State University in Bakersfield and received her Health Coaching Certification from Villanova University. Most recently, Katrina and her husband, Trevor, moved to South Korea to serve as integral roles in opening an international Christian boarding school.

Over the course of Katrina’s career, she has received numerous awards including the JC Penney Chairman’s Award, thus putting her in the top 10% of all store managers. In addition to the awards she has received, Katrina considers living abroad for 15 months one of her greatest accomplishments.

Katrina and Trevor have one fur baby named Honey Girl. Honey Girl is a 13-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and loved beyond measure! Katrina and Trevor enjoy boogie boarding and dining out as well as cooking good healthy food together. Katrina’s interest in healthy living carries over to her professional health coaching practice, allowing her to assist others in creating healthy living in their lives too. Katrina has also led Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University” class multiple times, helping individuals learn tools to get out of debt and live a financially peaceful life.

Although there are many reasons why Katrina loves CPVC, she particularly loves and identifies with the vision of CPVC; caring for people through the caring of their pets. Her favorite life verse is Romans 8:28 (NLT), “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
